Britain’s streets are poorly designed, traffic-choked and are neither safe nor inviting enough for many people to consider taking the healthy, sustainable and affordable option of commuting by bike.
Investing in better cycle paths would also reduce traffic jams, ease overcrowding on public transport, save millions from local NHS budgets and help constituents save money and boost their health and fitness. It would also benefit the high street and boost productivity in the local economy.
The Get Britain Cycling report was welcomed by David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband and has backing from Sir Chris Hoy, Laura Trott, Sir Richard Branson, Lord Sugar, Barclays Bank and the CBI among others.
